The difficulties of playing chess

Why is chess so difficult? Because one mistake will bring you your downfall. Enough said. In basketball, its not over till the final buzzer sounds, you might just pull of a miracle! Unlike in chess, miracles are farfetched, its difficult. The least you can hope is that your opponent blunders, otherwise you control your destiny.

This morning we played against ADMU, deep down within is it is a must win game. They were up leading and we needed to win. And it seemed possible, until Eumir lost. In came to shock all of us, and the lead we had over the Eagles fell away until it all came down to me, everyone was done and all eyes were on me and my counterpart. I had a good 10 mins left on my clock while he had a all important 20 mins left. I must have been thinking too much, and it proove as 3 mins later I pulled of a amazing move! I was closer to checkmater him. He used a good 5-7 mins and though of something to get the time a bit closer. Time was no longer on my side, I had seven mins left and I took me another 3 mins to make another move! I only had 4 mins left! Afterwards, time became the basis. I rushed plays and made some very big mistakes. And alas, I lost to Ateneo. But, it was a great game! I finished last and it all came down the wire. I had 1 min left while he had around 3 mins left until I was checkmated by the promoted pawn.

Chess may not have any physical activity, but what makes it difficult is that it is like life, you can never take back what you have done wrong, rather you have to wait till your opponent does something wrong.
