La Salle vs The World

I have always viewed myself as someone who looks at the bright spots in life, but my own perception has deceived me. This afternoon in the car, whenever mom guarantees something, I end up asking the question to myself “What if not?”

There is a basket at home, don’t worry. What if there isn’t?

We will be able to talk to Fr. Go later, relax! What if we don’t?

We will be in time for mass. What if we aren’t?

These are just some of the things I have asked myself, and looking back, I have finally considered myself as a pessimist when it comes to work, I never settle for relying on luck to do the job for me. If ever there is something, I do it almost immediately, depending on the importance of course: P. But, I consider myself as an optimist when grabbing opportunities; I usually don’t feel afraid of the consequences no matter how farfetched the idea is. Like for the Poveda fair, my 3 band mates don’t think we can make it, neither do I but I will still submit our demo just to try it out, I mean there is no harm in trying right? I don’t know it’s just me; maybe I need to fix that.

Okay back to the real world, Mr. Manny Salgado hit Arwind Santos during the DLSU vs FEU game last Thursday. Imagine, the UAAP Board giving him a suspension, in being a part of a team and watching any UAAP game for his entire life. I mean, sure, we can understand that he can no longer be a part of a team, but to suspend him, a paying customer to watch a UAAP for the rest of his life is hands-down injustice. Now you can see the true colors of the UAAP board, and it all started with the controversial DLSU vs FEU during the 1992 finals. Imagine you give FEU the championship because of a mistake in referee’s judgment, now the same thing happened during the 1st round game between DLSU vs UE and, guess what, they did not call the goaltending because it was the referees judgment. I know the story had a big 13 year gap, okay understandable, let’s go back in time for another DLSU game, this time against UST. A few seconds left and Jason Webb has the ball, he was called for an illegal travel, something he didn’t really do. So guess what, UST scored and boom, championship goes to UST. Now this was complained as well, and they said it was referees judgment. As long as it involves La Salle, they really try their hardest to bring the school down. In fact my friend in the UAAP board said that they might exchange DLSU for San Beda, making DLSU go back to the NCAA. Imagine that? They try everything, just for to discriminate Lasallians. And they say that we are not upholding our Christen Values with what we are doing on the court, before you point a finger at us, look at what you guys have done to really bring La Salle down, and its not limited to the UAAP, the Media is already involved. The front page in the Philippine star last Saturday featured Manny Salgado hitting Arwind, when a Atenean coach did the same thing during 1999 Final Four, I don’t think he was publicized that much, when Enrico Villanueva hit Adonis Sta. Maria, no “special treatment” was given, and when Tenorio threw a punch at Jerwin Gaco, no front page cover, instead Ryan Arana’s dance was given so much attention by the whole world, and he didn’t even harm anyone, and the photo shoot in the middle of the court, there was so much hype about it. Because when you point your finger to us, there are 4 fingers pointing at you. It’s La Salle vs The World. I just had to get that out!!!

Soiree last night and it couldn’t be more bogus. Only 4 girls arrived for the soiree against us… so many boys. We just had dinner, and we decided to split up. Some went to my house, the others went with Jarren and the others went to Annapolis for a party.

Nothing much has happened these past few days, I tied a won game against Don Bosco (Im gonna kill myself!). I was also able to garner enough sleep. Thanks goodness!
